As Prepare Tomorrow’s Parents’ mission has intersected with
related fields, several researchers, policymakers and practitioners have raised
the need to view parenting within the context of the relationship between a
child's parents. Interest in making widescale
Marriage/Relationship Education available to young people through schools,
youth programs and state legislation has been growing in parallel to the
Parenting Education movement.
The
negative impacts of marital discord and a 50% divorce rate on children are
well-documented. Additionally, there is significant overlap in the information
and skills taught to young people in preparing them for parenting and to
support a marriage. Therefore, Prepare
